My favorite season of ALL TIME is Spring Cleaning. It’s a time when the weather is perfect for a deep spring clean and the best time to give your home a little refresher.

I created the ultimate spring cleaning guide to help you combat the stressors that can come from spring cleaning and prepare you with the best cleaning supplies to make your spring cleaning SO MUCH EASIER!

Spring cleaning can seem daunting, and while it can take a few days, it’s WELL WORTH IT!

So here is the Ultimate Guide to Spring Cleaning!

Let’s start with the basics… what in the world is spring cleaning???

What is spring cleaning??

In short, spring cleaning is a deep and thorough cleaning of your home. It can also entail decluttering and reorganization to make your home feel like a haven. By doing a spring cleaning, you will reap the benefits of a clean, organized, clutter-free, easier daily maintenance and tidy home.

The Ultimate Guide to Spring Cleaning

Top 7 Cleaning Supplies

Dawn Spray Dish Soap

Dawn Spray Dish Soap is my Holy Grail when it comes to cleaning. It is SO EASY to spray and covers quite an area when spraying.

You can use Power Dawn Dishsoap to clean your stovetop, oven, sink, dishes, bathroom sink, tub or shower, toilet, and seriously, on anything and everything!

The Lemon or Apple scent from Walmart also smells so good!!

Pledge Everyday Clean Multisurface & Antibacterial Spray

The Pledge Multisurface Cleaner is another GO-TO cleaner. Seriously, EVERYONE LOVES and raves about it.

You can use it to clean sealed wood, wood laminate, granite, leather, and stainless steel. Keep in mind It’s not recommended for glass or mirrors. But for that, you can use SprayWay Glass cleaner! for your glass or mirrors. It is the BEST of the BEST glass cleaner you can ever find.

O cedar Mop

You’ve probably seen this O’Cedar Mop EVERYWHERE, and it’s for a good reason. It’s because it’s seriously such a great mop and a MUST-HAVE in your cleaning supplies!

The removable mop head extends its longevity, and you can also throw it in the washer and reuse it again, which is amazing because it won’t harbor a stinky smell. You can also replace the mop head as frequently as you would like without having to throw the whole mop away!

It’s also hands-free wringing and a lifesaver, especially if you struggle with eczema or have back problems.

Clorox

This is just the OG of cleaning supplies. Clorox. If used correctly and not mixed with other chemicals that could make it harmful to breathe, it is one of the best disinfectant/ cleaning solutions out there.

You can use Clorox for anything and everything (not for consumption, of course), such as cleaning countertops, toilets, floors, and even your laundry!

Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner

You can actually use the Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner for more than just the toilet. It can be used to clean the sink, bathtub, grout, bathroom tiles, porcelain surfaces, or your shower floor.

I would NOT use it on or get it on the chrome parts because it will ruin it!

Scrub Daddy & Scrub Mommy Sponges

Scrub Daddy or Scrub Mommy sponges are a cleaning supply that you always need to keep in hand YEAR ROUND! These sponges are so durable. When you run the sponges under hot water, it becomes spongy and soft. But when you run the sponge under cold water, the scrub hardens, making it easier to scrub surfaces.

Personally, I prefer the Scrub Mommy sponge a lot better because it has the sponge and scrub sides!

Microfiber Towels

Microfiber towels are not only the most versatile towels out there, but they are also great for the environment. Instead of using paper towels for everything, these microfiber towels absorb everything and have multiple purposes.

You will save so many paper towels by using microfiber towels instead!!

4 Cleaning Tips

Create a Spring Cleaning Checklist

Creating a spring cleaning checklist will help you out more than you think!! It will keep you organized and help you figure out what has already been cleaned or what needs cleaning.

You can create a plan that works for you by having a spring cleaning checklist. You can also tailor the cleaning to fit your needs and time frame.

Declutter Your Home First

Declutter your space before you start cleaning is ESSENTIAL! For one, you want to start decluttering by donating, reorganizing, or simply throwing it away. In this blog post, I share a few ways you can start decluttering your home, especially if you’re overwhelmed!

Start from the top down

The only and best way to start your spring cleaning is from the top to bottom. This will simplify your cleaning, and you’ll be more efficient by not having to clean the area underneath again after cleaning the walls, windows, or ceiling corners.

Focus On One Room at a Time

The best and most effective thing to do to be able to finish your spring cleaning in a timely manner is to focus on one room at a time! Which can be SO HARD TO DO. Well, at least for me…

But the more you redirect your mind to focusing on one room at a time, the quicker you finish the spring cleaning!

3 Spring Cleaning Hacks

Cleaning Hack #1

Use a clean O’Cedar Mop head to clean the walls. Make sure you are wringing out ALL of the water from the mop. You don’t want to damage your drywall with a very wet mop. This is where the O’Cedar Mop comes in handy because you can spin it many, many times, ensuring you have a dry mop head!

Cleaning Hack #2

Buy this cheap mom at the Dollar Store, Dollar General, or Family Dollar to clean the exterior side of your windows. This mop makes cleaning the windows soooo much quicker and easier. It’s also pretty cost-effective too. If you don’t have a Dollar Store or Dollar General, you can order it HERE from Amazon!

It’s nothing fancy, but that’s completely okay!

Cleaning Hack #3

Use Powertool Attachments!! If you have a drill handy, use cleaning attachments to make scrubbing easier!! Especially if you have tiles and need to get in the crevasses, these are THE BEST ATTACHMENTS you will ever need! I use them ALL THE TIME!!

Instead of going in with a toothbrush or scrubbing until your hands fall off and your biceps look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Drill attachments will save you so much scrubbing and time!

2 Spring deep cleaning areas you can’t forget

cleaning the gutter

Gutters

Spring season calls for lots of rain! More often than not, the most forgotten area to clean is the gutters!

But it’s essential to get the gutters cleaned out! They might be full of leaves from the previous fall and could also be full of dirt that could clog your gutters!

You should start by manually removing all the leaves or big debris from the gutter.

After you remove the leaves, go in with either your hose, a hose attachment, or a powerwasher and wash all the dirt down the gutter.

And BOOM, all clean for the year!

ceiling corners

Ceiling corners are another forgotten area that seriously needs cleaning. These corners are notorious for spiders. It’s the perfect area for them to build their beautiful web, but I prefer them to do it outside, not inside my home.

You can go around your home with a broom and brush the corner out.
